Concept
Launched in February 2010 by David Laxer and David Haliva, 18 is a quarterly magazine on Israeli culture and business distributed Internationally. It is written in English and will only come out for 18 issues. Our mandate is to present an eclectic picture of a contemporary Israel - a place of innovation in both the arts and business as well as covering interesting social trends outside of the usual political context.
Covering design, art, architecture, business, film, people, places and social trends, 18 brings a fresh perspective on a country that has drawn international attention and scrutiny since its inception. Developed for an International, media-savvy audience of both Jews and Non-Jews alike, 18 features a wide roster of recognized writers and photographers.
Both Laxer and Haliva come from a visual communication background and have experience working with both Israeli and global brands. With that said, neither has ever worked on such a problematic 'brand' as Israel.
